Grapevine adopters’ newsletter (September, 2013)

El setembre és veremador i es fa vi del bo i millor. (September harvests grapes and makes the best wines.) A Catalan saying

This year, the grape harvest has really matched September! Particularly, its second half. Last year, as you might remember, we started cropping grapes in August. It was surely an excellent vintage. This autumn promises to bring another harvest of great quality plus more plentiful. We’ll keep you updated, since we’re still harvesting grapes. September has been warm, mild and pleasant, with basically no rainfall.

On the tourism side, we’ve had quit a generous month, too! There has been a great variety of visitors who had fun, and – more importantly – were very grateful. It’s easy to imagine those whose visits popped in during the harvest – they couldn’t help taking pictures! Plus, we’ve extended our collaboration with other producers from our county: we’ve had groups who not only wanted to taste our wines but also get to know an oil mill and taste some local honey.

We’d like to express our special thanks to two vine guardians: Maite, for her publication about grapevine adoptions in the Elle Spain magazine, and Carlos, for the pictures of the 2011 harvest: two of them became finalists in the competition called “Els vins catalans triomfen” set up on Instagram by Prodeca.

Castanyada is round the bend! A very nice period to visit Priorat!

Cheers from Gratallops
