Green-pruning vines and eating paella in Priorat! 2, 8 and 9 June, 2022

Would you like to be a vineyard gardener for a day? In the spring, grapevines expand their foliage rapidly turning the place into a green garden, full of twigs and leaves. It certainly creates a lovely view, and still needs some tidying up… And after a good while pruning the vines, what could be better than a delicious traditional meal to recharge the batteries? Would you like to see how arròs de tros from Priorat is cooked and than savour it?

Well, now it’s time to green-prune the vines in Priorat… Have you ever heard of this? Sounds like pruning, but done when the vineyards are lush green. It’s a crucial vineyard hands-on activity that consists in preserving the best vine twigs towards the grape ripening and culling all the others. Would you like to learn how to green-prune a vine in a great company and eat arròs de tros (a traditional Priorat paella)?

From Gratallops (DOQ Priorat) and Falset (county capital), we’re inviting you to enjoy an exciting vine-and-foodie activity: green-pruning vines and eating paella.

Save the date on 2, 8 or 9 June (Thursday, Friday and Tuesday) in order to enjoy Priorat’s striking scenery and learn how to prune vines.

Thus you’ll be able to learn how to do this fun farming task! You won’t toil green-pruning the whole plot, you’ll rather master the techniques while enjoying in the lap of nature. The master class will be rewarded by a wine tasting and a paella lunch at the Mas Trucafort restaurant.

Mas de les Valls (DOQ Priorat): the evolution of the brand

As many of you know, Celler Devinssi began producing DOQ Priorat wines in 2003, with the first vintage completely dedicated to the production of our small wine called “IL·LIA“. Today we are going to talk about Mas de les Valls, the wine that comes from different plots of vineyards located in Gratallops and that, together with our tops, has gained a lot of prominence in our range of wines. In fact, Continue reading

How’s the grape harvest and wine travel? (Celler Devinssi, DOQ Priorat)

Definitely, 2020, baptised by Hurricane Gloria, will forever be etched in our memory.

The disastrous effect of the Covid-19 has been noticed here in  Priorat. Three months with no tourists, with no people in the street. Of course, with a minimum risk of virus rebound… Learn more

We’re lucky to have been able to take care of the vineyards: whole spring spent alone with nature, with an uncertain future, toon…

This year, the vineyards have needed a lot of human presence… The endless spring rains have caused the plague called mildew to spread throughout the vineyards: a fungus that dries the grapes… Learn more…

We have had some losses of Carignan (Samsó) and Red Grenache, but if we zoom out to the DOQ Priorat level we have no right to complain. The careful dedication during the most complicated season in terms of weather and epidemiology and a some luck have made this 2020 grape harvest possible: Grenache and Carignan in very good condition, healthy and juicy Cabernet Sauvignon… Meanwhile, after a dry and sunny august, the harvest has been somewhat early and very dynamic. Wine tourism in Priorat: Celler Devinssi reopens its doors sticking to safety measures

While the world keeps contending with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, Priorat has reached phase 3 of the de-escalation.

We suppose that wine tourism recovery to the same levels will be gradual and always on the alert for health safety.

We are very excited to announce that we are reopening the cellar doors to welcome you here in the Priorat. Did you feel like leaving home? Going on an excursion, tasting wines, viewing some unmatched scenery. Scenery that has been waiting for you uncomplainingly…

Obviously, new safety measures have come to wine tourism. Tastings have new rules to ensure that you are protected throughout the experience.

At Celler Devinssi, in fact, we already began to apply some of these rules long before the pandemic. Now, they have expanded, and obviously include some new things. For example, safety masks, group size, distances… All this just for the sake of a pleasant and safe experience.

We present the SARS-CoV-2 safety measures that will be applied while visiting Celler Devinssi. Read them carefully to find out what exactly awaits you.
