June 2015: a dramatic month

We’ll remember this June forever! Both the physical and virtual environment have been quite tough with us.

Let’s begin with the nature. This June has been characterized by clearly summerlike weather, with many days of sunshine and heat. However, we couldn’t help a small hailstorm, which has affected some vines … So be it! The grape berries have been healed, so we are looking forward to July’s most exciting stage: the veraison, which is to begin shortly.

On the other hand, a dry lightning storm has left its mark in Priorat, which will be visible for years. It burnt some hectares of forest next to the famous Els Escurçons vineyard belonging to Mas Martinet. The fire was very high, but they were able to control it swiftly, and next day’s short but intense rain soaked the charred land.

At the winery, we went on preparing orders and hosting visits to the cellar … But there was another event that gave us the willies. With the renewal of the Priorat tourist information website, our winery’s profile was bereaved of all 71 comments posted by visitors. Read more in this entry. Also in June, while we were updating our website it suddenly turned invisible for a few days … a perfect storm! Now our website is up; and we have already sent a request to Tripadvisor to continue receiving comments from visitors via this platform.

Turning to positive news. Despite everything, we have had enough visits to the cellar and we have requests and bookings for the upcoming months! If it is of your interest have a look at Greig’s comments about us; this Texas blogger visited us in May. We would also like to congratulate our collaborator Jordi on becoming a PhD in economics and business on 15 June!

Please note that the trimming workshop scheduled for July 19 is canceled because of anticipated excessive heat. Therefore, please keep your eye on the harvesting workshop to be held on 13 September, for which we already have a few enrolments.

And the historical photo. This time, the first picture we published two years ago on our Instagram: 1.06.2013. What memories!

Enjoy the summer and speak soon!
