This summer, the prestigious British magazine Food and Travel published an extensive feature on Priorat, exploring in depth the landscape, culture, and winemaking traditions of this unique region in southern Catalonia. The article, written by journalist Marina Spironetti, combines stunning imagery with a vivid narrative that captures the spirit of the land: a rugged, mineral-rich landscape, a history that dates back to 12th-century Carthusian monks, and a winemaking tradition that has been reborn through perseverance and respect for nature. We are proud to be featured in the article as one of the recommended wine tourism experiences, with a special mention of both our surroundings and our Rocapoll wine.

The article highlights how, after a long period of abandonment following the phylloxera plague, Priorat experienced a revival in the 1980s thanks to a new collective drive to restore old vineyards, promote local grape varieties and adopt sustainable farming techniques. This movement had its cradle in Gratallops, a small village of only 232 inhabitants, now home to around twenty wineries. It was here, in the heart of this transformation, that Celler Devinssi was founded in 2000 – in full alignment with the values of quality, rootedness and dedication to the land. Today, Gratallops remains a symbol of heroic viticulture and the wine travel potential of Priorat.

In the case of Celler Devinssi, the journalist warmly describes our vineyard tastings beneath a century-old olive tree, overlooking the steep hillsides we farm by hand. She explains how we use mules for ploughing —just like in the old days— and highlights our Rocapoll 2020: a 100% Carignan wine from a century-old vineyard, limited to just 600 bottles per vintage. It expresses, like few others, the strength, elegance, and authenticity of the land. The tasting is rounded off with a pica-pica of local products: pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato), young sheep’s cheese, and traditional Priorat charcuterie like llonganissa and sobrassada. A simple yet deeply meaningful experience that connects you to the land and its people.

📍 Food and Travel also mentions Priorat Enoturisme —of which we are a proud member— as an example of a local network of small entrepreneurs working together to promote sustainable, identity-rooted tourism. A shared mission to celebrate wine culture with authenticity.

We look forward to welcoming you to Celler Devinssi!
